Confront or Cover
Sunday Aug 02, 2015
Sunday Aug 02, 2015
Rebuke your brother. Some nearly salivate at that responsibility; others practically freeze in distress. As Jesus-people we are to live in community, and that means occasional friction, offense, and hurt. Should we overlook when others wrong us? Should we confront?

Forgive, Restore, Repeat
Sunday Jul 19, 2015
Sunday Jul 19, 2015
Authentic Christianity, following Jesus through His gracious Gospel, is often relationally complicated. In our flesh we not only fail our Lord, but we offend and sin against others, and are offended and sinned against. As Jesus-people we should care enough about Truth to confront sin. And we must be captured enough by Grace to forgive. But what does that look like in real life? Let's reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remember Jesus' warning: we should be careful how we listen (Luke 8:18).

In Luke 16, Jesus delineated some markers of false religion; in today's text He calls us to qualities of genuine, faith-filled living as we follow Him. His disciples then needed these words, but no less than we do today.

What Jesus Hates
Sunday Jun 28, 2015
Sunday Jun 28, 2015
As Jerusalem draws ever closer, those opposing Jesus grow ever more resistant and bitter. In today's text, what has been grumbling degenerates into ridicule. The false belief system that consumed the Pharisees is not necessarily merely Jewish, nor only 2,000 years in the past. In fact, residual peices might still reside in what the Bible calls our "flesh".

When Are You Living For?
Sunday Jun 21, 2015
Sunday Jun 21, 2015
The grammar’s not perfect, but the question is pressing and relevant for each of us. While today’s text focuses on “mammon”, its bottom line goes beyond our checkbook’s bottom line. What are we living for? Better yet, when are we living for? Let’s reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remember Jesus’ warning: we should be careful how we listen (Luke 8:18).
