Today we look at one of the darkest summary pages of Israel's history. This is a key text to understanding the decline and demise of Israel. How will God respond to His people's habitual drift after the gods of the nations? How does He respond when we drift towards the gods of our day?

The book of Judges is often dealt superficially: these are heroes to emulate. A not-too-much closer look reveals that nearly all the judges were deeply flawed and less than exemplary. And Judges' account of Israel's trajectory is tragic. So what can we learn from reading this ancient history? Very useful principles, rooted in the Gospel. Let's reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remember Jesus' warning: be careful how we listen (Luke 8:18).

The "Prosperity Gospel" is a scourge in contemporary America; sadly it's also been exported to the Third World, disgracing the name of our good God. However, how do we understand the promises in the Word that tell us that God blesses His own, honors obedience, and rewards those who serve Him? Simply put, are the 2,400-year-old promises to Joshua also promises to us? Let's reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remeber Jesus' warning: be careful how we listen (Luke 8:18).
