Holiness: What's That Look Like?

Church people have always done plenty of talking about holiness; but living holy lives?  Too often that's another matter.  Is holiness really possible?  Does it matter?  Perhaps we can redefine it in order to manage it.  This is serious stuff -- Hebrews 12:14 says, "Stive for...the holiness without which no one will see the Lord."

Reading a theological-biography of 19-century megachurch pastor Charles Spurgeon, one finds that, nearly 150 years ago, he regularly encountered deep skepticism about the "morality" of the substitutionary death of Jesus. Is there a basis for our understanding of Jesus' bleeding and dying for our sins, i.e., on our behalf?  it's all part of God's Big Story.
