Phil Ryken calls the parable of the sower "the parable of parables". In a sense, it sets a template for hearing and responding to all of Jesus' parables; indeed, all of His teachings. It speaks to how we hear or listen to God's Word, and what we do about it. So it matters! Let's reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remember Jesus' warning located in this very text: be careful how you listen (Luke 8:18).
